Inside Walls

We are moving right along. The framing inside the house has begun and I can't wait to get in there and walk around to see the different spaces. I had just enough time today to snap some pictures and talk with the builder about the ceiling and whether to drop the ceiling when entering different rooms. He was wanting me to make a decision while the hubs was away...YIKES! I am comfortable making decisions when it comes to aesthetics, but not the structure of the house or things that can't be changed easily. That would be J's job!

Inside walls of the master bedroom/bathroom/closet and the kids bathroom:

I just love seeing this all come together....and yes I am freaking out a little because all the rooms are looking TINY. They look much larger on paper! And I know that once the sheetrock goes up, somehow they won't seem so tiny anymore.

Have a happy Friday!

We've got Walls!!

It has been a week since I blogged last...the cement was poured in the garage, the subfloor is on and framing was started yesterday. These pictures were taken this afternoon. I was so excited to see what will soon be walls!

Day 2 With No Work Crew!

Where are all the workers?! Here is my precious husband trying to keep us from getting so far behind. Thanks Stephen for giving him a hand for a little while this evening!

I hope our contractor got the point across to the workers today....vacation's over!! ;)

Floor Joists

It is Monday and there were no workers at the lot all day. We are crossing our fingers that they show tomorrow or we will have to look for different help. J has professional development all week and will only be able to clean up in the evenings and prep for the next day's work.

These are pictures up until last Thursday.

Pictures that Inspire Me

While I would love to be posting pictures of our house and the progress the guys have made this week, it's not really anything "noticeable" yet. They have been working like crazy on the floor joists and are super close to getting the floor on, so I should have pictures in a few days.

While you anxiously await those (ha!), I will share some pictures I have saved from Houzz. My style is traditional, but trying to explain the picture I have in my head to my carpenter probably won't work out very well. The end result of my kitchen and bathroom cabinetry will be a mix of lots of different pictures I have found and I will tweak some things here and there.

Buckhead traditional kitchen

I love the cabinet door fronts, the hardware, the dentil moulding, and especially the coffered ceiling.

Traditional Styled Kitchens traditional kitchen

This kitchen just makes me happy. I love the overall look, especially the mixed cabinetry. I am a big fan of those pendants over the island!!

Kelly Cross traditional kitchen

And even though I don't think we will end up going for this look, I do like it a lot. Olde world is so warm and just fun to look at.

Addition and Remodel traditional bathroom

I like this style vanity for the kids' bathroom. I do know I want their vanity white, but may add some bun feet. I like the divider wall next to the commode.

Clarke Bathroom Renovation traditional bathroom

This vanity just nails my taste. I think I like it because it is different and how it comes out right in front of the sink is neat.

Please do not hold me to any of these pictures ;) My taste may change by the time the carpenter is ready to sit down with me. I'm just kidding, it is going fairly quick so far and minus my husband's physical exhaustion it hasn't been bad or stressful.

Tomorrow is Friday- YAY! Everyone have a fun weekend!!

Lumber, Pest Control, and Windows

Creative title-huh? :) That's what is going on in our little world today....lumber is being delivered, pest control will be spraying for termites, and we have to choose our windows quick. We will be going to a friend's house to have a look-see at their windows. They just built a home and ,bless their hearts, they are being bombarded with questions from us! Decisions, decisions!

More dirt work

We had some dirt brought in today to level out the garage area. It looks a lot better.

On the agenda for next week: termite guy will come and spray and the framers will begin the floor joists. If we are extra lucky, the concrete will be poured in the garage. Look for more pics next week sometime!

Lots of Clean-Up!!

J has been cleaning the lot after the huge mess that the block layers made. ;) He left the house around 6:30 this morning and will probably work until he has to be at his master's class this afternoon. Other than that, we have just made a decision on floor joists and now we are waiting on lumber bids. The porta potty was also delivered yesterday. I know the workers will be happy about that. We had a guy come out for a heating and air quote. We also sat down and looked at our numbers- so far so good. So even though there wasn't big progress on the house itself, there was a lot done yesterday. I'm looking forward to the next step!

**4th of July**

It's Sunday and the 4th of July and the workers began laying blocks very early this a.m. There's no stopping them (thank goodness)! They are finished with the blocks and the piers look great. J had to make 2 runs to Lowes today, ran out of blocks, and since they finished with the blocks they needed supplies to start the next step...don't ask me what that is! :P

Starting to look like a house!

J was gone before 7:00 this morning to meet the block layers (I'm sure there is a better name for them, I just don't know what it is) at the lot. They had made so much progress in 2 1/2 hours when the following pics were taken...I was amazed!

They started at the back of the house in the master bedroom. The bay window is the sitting area of the master bedroom.

The mortar mixer hard at work.

They worked hard and fast and called it a day around 2:00 when the rain came. They probably would've finished or come close to finishing today if it wasn't for the rain, but they will be there bright and early tomorrow morning. More pictures to come!
