Happy 5th Birthday to our Sweetie!

On G's "real" birthday, we had her Grandparents over for dinner and her Yaya made strawberry cake for dessert.

We all surprised her with a pink Camaro for her big gift. She was beside herself!

Daddy took the Camaro to the front walkway and then rang the doorbell for G to answer. As you can see by the look on her face...she was surprised and loved it!

We celebrated G's 5th birthday party with a Candy Land theme. She looked adorable in her little tutu and lollipop shirt and she felt as cute as she looked.

I set up a sweet shoppe in our foyer using candies that coordinated with the birthday colors- pink, turquoise, yellow, and orange. All the kids were sugared up by the time they left. Mission accomplished. ;)

My favorite touch was the favors- cookie pops made to look like lollipops! I put them in flower pots for centerpieces and they were precious!
We had about 25 of our closest family and friends there and it was just perfect. G opened lots of fun gifts and had the best time with cousins and friends.

Our precious Grasen, you mean the world to us. These five years have flown by! We have enjoyed each day with you and your sweet heart. You blow us away with your knowledge- reading words, spelling, vocabulary, and just your love for learning. You are a wonderful little Mommy to your brother, always so loving. Aside from playing school and learning, you love to play with your babies, barbies, puzzles, and you LOVE to color. I always tell you how your coloring doesn't compare to the coloring of my K students. It just doesn't. You love your preschool classes with Mrs. Charrity and Mrs. Janice. You get a good report every Monday and Friday when you attend. We look forward to watching you grow and change and become a little lady. You are such a blessing to us, Grasen, and we love you with all our hearts.

It was the first day of school for most in our house..... First day as an administrator for our Daddy! The first day of kindergarten...for the 7th year in a row...for Mommy!

And the first day of pre-school for G!

Everyone came home tired, but had a great first day.

Back to school

I am sure that I just packed up my classroom yesterday for Summer break...moved furniture for the carpets to be cleaned, turned in my inventory and end of the year checklist, and got out of there like someone pulled the fire alarm! Where did my two months go?

Ready or not, school is starting in a week! I have been preparing my classroom for my new group of kiddos and preparing myself for the new curriculum and standards, the parents that come along with teaching, and the diversity that makes up my class. Even though I am not ready to teach physically, my heart is ready to love on these 17 special children that God has placed in my room. Honestly, before last week I was not motivated for this school year. My foot hurts. It hurts to walk. And teaching kindergarten involves A LOT of walking. So...I was not looking forward to the start of the new school year. But I came across this song that has really got me excited and motivated. God is a big, big God. I know He will help me to get through the pain in the first several weeks of school so that I can do what I am called to do...and that is to teach and to love children.

Whether you are an educator or have children in the school system, I wish you a wonderful year!!
