Easter

The kids took yummy treats to their school parties and had fun hunting eggs inside. The rain doesn't stop our good times! ;)

We had Easter Sunday at Yaya and Pop's this year. It's always a nice day with family. The weather was perfect- so we were able to hunt eggs outside.

We are blessed.

Mommy/Gracie day and Coloring Eggs

Grasen and I were due for a special day together. We got our nails done and then went to eat at our favorite Chinese restaurant.

We finished up some Easter shopping and had a lot of fun together. She is a fantastic shopping partner.

We went to Yaya and Pop's house after to color Easter eggs with Emmett and Bayler. The boys were a little more interested this year than they were last year. Grasen is the one that pays attention to every little detail.

Fun times!

Ski Trip

We planned a ski trip for Spring Break in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado. We joined 11 of our friends for the week and stayed together in a cozy house that overlooked the town. The trip there wasn't too bad- just a little car sickness from Bayler.

We stopped about half way, had dinner with some of the group and then found our hotel. There was a Dairy Queen play land across the street so we let the kids burn off some energy.

The next day of driving seemed like it took forever, but the kids really did well. I'm the one that gets restless. We finally got to our house in Breckenridge around 1:00 in the afternoon.

We planned to just hang out, make out the grocery list, send the guys shopping, and then think about what we wanted to do for the week.

Soon after we got there Dawn started getting elevation sickness- bad headache and vomiting. Then Bayler. And Ty. Khloe started vomiting during the night. Most of us were having trouble breathing. It really wasn't what I expected. I thought maybe 1 or 2 of us wouldn't feel well, but half of us?? By Thursday, Grasen wasn't eating and she was having circulation problems- her hands were turning purple. We had no idea it could get so bad!

So the next morning some of us went to the Oxygen Bar and fueled up for the day. It helped me for a couple hours. We had tons of stairs in the house and going up or down one flight felt like you ran around the block. We just could not get a good breath and we never got use to it.

After we got some o2 we went with the Muldoons to a sandwich shop next door. We really felt legit driving around with a snow covered SUV with sleds on the rack. Ha!

Sledding was so much fun! There was this great sled hill by an elementary school. I would've done it all day if I didn't have to walk back up to the top of the hill to go back down. It was extremely tiring on the legs. G and B had a lot of fun going down the hill with Jordan and I.

Oh and, of course, we had to make some snow angels! So much better than the angels we make in the dusting we get every year at home.

After sledding we went home to get ready for dinner. I wasn't feeling well, but decided to go to dinner. Bad idea. I got sick no less than 5-6 times at the restaurant, once on the way home, and then thru the night. Awful stomach bug. I was in bed all of day 2. Dawn and Bristle had to watch the kids for me because it was ski day for all the guys. Cody started getting sick with it while he was out skiing. We are just a lovely bunch to be around!! Jordan and the girls disinfected the entire house and kept Cody and I stocked up on Gatorade. Bless their hearts.

The next day I felt much better! I kept the kiddos while all the other adults went skiing and snow boarding. My ankle wasn't ready to attempt that, so I happily stayed with the children and watched it snow the entire day.

That night the whole gang planned to go to a local pizza place, but I think the whole town of Breckenridge had the same idea. We drove around looking for a place to eat that wasn't going to take 2 hours to be seated (there was 15 of us.) We finally decided to break up our group. Us and the Muldoons drove about 20 minutes out of town to Chicago Pizza. We had a fun time. Magic Rob made balloon animals for the kids which was an added bonus. We were a little nervous getting back to Breckenridge that night. We had a 4wd, but our friends didn't. We were behind them going up the mountain, watching them slide back and forth. By the time we were "home" my knees and hands were shaking and I was crying. This much snow can be scary.

The next day we decided to have a shopping day by ourselves. We found some great outlets and headed into Crocs to find some water shoes for B. As soon as we got in there Bayler got a nose bleed. I had to get kleenex and a trash bag from the sales clerk. We went outside to get it stopped and then continued shopping at a different outlet since we had enough drama in the Crocs store. We ended the day with some ice cream and giant peanut butter cups.

The day before we were suppose to leave it snowed heavily all day long. It was so pretty. I found myself just staring out the window most of the day. Our driveway is under that mess of snow. The guys had to shovel it for us and then we kept an eye on the news because they were closing one of the main roads home. Luckily they had it cleared and reopened quickly before we left. I was ready to get back home!

We made lots of good memories with our friends that we would literally do anything for-- they mean the world to us. We are thankful that we had the opportunity to spend the week together. There were definitely things that came up that we didn't anticipate- things that we couldn't plan for and we know now that we can do some things differently next time (increase elevation slowly). Live and learn. God is good. All the time.
