VBS

We had VBS this week and it was incredible! The theme this year....

Everything is possible with God! The kids learned that we can trust God no matter what!

Bayler had a good time hanging out in the 3 year old classroom while Mommy worked with the 4 and 5 year olds- sissy's age group.

We came home everyday and had a quick lunch, then took a 2 1/2-3 hour nap! Come Friday afternoon, I was dragging- even with my 3 hour naps!

Grasen really had the best time. I enjoyed being able to watch her sing and learn more about God. She was having so much fun that on Tuesday morning she was up and dressed by 6:30. I didn't even wake her up yet. And my kiddos enjoy their sleep!

When VBS was over Grasen asked how long we had to wait until next VBS. She was a little bummed! I think that shows how much she enjoyed it.

I'm thankful for all of the adult and student volunteers that are helping to plant those seeds in my children's hearts. They are being molded into children after God's heart and I am so grateful.

Welcome to the cutest rooms in the house!

Today Kelly's Korner home tour is kids' rooms!

I love my little girl's room! It is just so sweet, girly, and fun. I am a sucker for pink, green, and yellow. These were her nursery colors as well and I just can't seem to get away from them. I know the teen years will hit and they will probably be out the door.

The little chandelier that is hanging over her table and chairs was hanging at our old house in her nursery. It's very special to us.

The white armoire has been through a lot! I used it when I was in high school/college to hold my tv and for my clothes. It was a dark mahogany color. Then when Jordan and I married we used it in our living room as our television cabinet. When we were preparing for Grasen's arrival, Jordan cut out some shelves and built new shelves for the baskets and painted it white. We didn't know it at the time, but it was money well spent for that armoire!

The large chandelier is just a brass chandelier that I spray painted- $50 at an antique store!

The dollhouse was given to Grasen by her Yaya and Pop for her 4th Christmas. It is very old and I love that.

I searched and searched for almost a year for something to go above her bed and I finally found this canvas at a local boutique. I was headed out the door with my purchase and then spotted it up on the wall and couldn't leave without it! The colors were perfect and the Bible verse, I LOVE.

"Out of all the people on the face of the Earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his special, treasured possession."
Deuteronomy 7:6

Her "Grasen" pillow was ordered off of etsy two years ago and I still love it so much.

The plate hanging on top was given to us on the day of Grasen's birth by her Aunt Carrie and Uncle Nathan. It says "Wednesday's Child". It has a matching cup that sits on her shelf to the left of her bed. It is another treasured item in her bedroom.

And this is Grasen's play corner....the kitchen that Nana and Papa gave her one Christmas, her babies and her baby buggy and baby bed. Grace loves playing in her bedroom.

Now onto Bayler's bedroom! His room has been an ongoing project since we moved in. I have added some new color (red and navy) and changed out his curtains. These came from Pottery Barn Kids on clearance! I still need a larger, heavier rod and want to hang the curtains higher, which means putty and touch up paint....it is on my to-do list!

The monkey canvas was painted by a teacher friend and given to me at Bayler's baby shower. It has one of my favorite verses on it out of I Samuel- "For this child I prayed..."

The kids both have a few of their larger toys in their bedrooms because I do like them to have time to play in their rooms, but most of the smaller toys are in our playroom.

For a birthday gift, Bayler got a gray desk with a chalkboard top and a matching chair for his bedroom. I didn't get a picture of it yet, but it's adorable and is now on the wall that his Black & Decker tool bench was on.

Our third bedroom is used as a playroom, so I will go ahead and show those pics!

This room is a very narrow space because we knew it was only to be a playroom and a guest bedroom in the very far future. My favorite paint in the house was used in this room. When we chose it I didn't think I would care for it, but the exact opposite happened!

When you walk in the door the kids puppet theatre and all the puppets hang out in the corner. Jordan and I got this for Grasen for half off at a local boutique because it was their display. I think it's by Melissa & Doug. The kids love it.

We keep their picnic table in here the majority of the time and they sit at it and play. When we have get-togethers we take it in the dining room for the kids to eat at.

The brown recliner is one of my favorite seats in the house. It is a small recliner and just so cozy. My parents bought it for Bayler's nursery and when we didn't need it in there anymore we moved it to the playroom.

This polka dot rug and Grasen's bedroom rug are the same just in different colors. I found those on overstock.com! Love to shop there- they usually ship quick and have good prices.

The framed canvas hanging above the picnic table was the inspiration for the playroom colors. It is of an older sister/younger brother on the beach and when I spotted it I couldn't leave the store without it!

This media/storage cabinet has saved us so much toy space! We bought it for the playroom at our last house and have loved it so much. Having baskets for like toys really helps keep things organized. Every now and then (2-3 times a year) I will have to go in there and clean out baskets and re-organize, but for the most part my kids are good at sorting and cleaning up, especially Grasen. Bayler is still learning, I think it's the male in him...

Above the storage cabinet is a wall decal- my first to ever apply! It made Jordan and I want to pull our hair out! Are they all like that? Anyway, it's a Dr. Seuss quote- "The more that you read The more things you will know The more that you learn The more places you'll go!" One of my favorite quotes! I am a big advocate for reading to your children every night. If you're not, it's never too late to start!

Thanks for touring our fun spaces today!

Beach Vacation Part 2

On day 2 or 3 we took a day off from the sand and went to see an air show. It was so hot and crowded, but very neat. I'm a military brat, so this show was not my first rodeo, but it was for my kiddos. It brought back so many good memories for me. Bayler was in awe of the jets. It's almost scary watching the jets get so close to each other.

We cooled off with yummy cupcakes that Aunt Carrie picked up for us and then had some good family time in the condo that evening.

Beach Vacation Part 1

We took the kiddos to see the ocean for the first time and both sets of Grandparents, as well as Uncle Nathan, Aunt Carrie, and Emmett came along. It was so. much. fun. I have a lot of pictures that represent great memories that I never want to forget, so bare with me.

Here is the beginning of our road trip. Everyone is smiley and happy.

This is the end of our road trip. We see the water. We are smiley and happy again. ;)

Here is the first look at the ocean for my children.

This is the first night in our condo. What's a family vacation without a picture of cousins taking a bath together? They all did so well traveling to the beach!

Our first beach day was father's day! So here are the dads opening their gifts.

G was a little excited to build some sand castles!

My cabana boy!

We walked down to the beach after father's day dinner. The waves crashing is so relaxing.

And one of my very favorites is the cousins in matching suits. They looked adorable on day 2.

More to come!

Birthday Fun

We took the kids to a family fun center Monday night to celebrate Bayler's 3rd birthday. We celebrated with extended family last week while we were at the beach, but I wanted to do something fun on his actual birthday.

This was a new game that they didn't have last time we went- mini air hockey. I LOVE air hockey, so when I saw this I was so excited. I had to give a little demonstration so the kids would understand the concept. Bayler wanted to throw the puck around and since that wasn't okay he decided to play the game behind us instead. I took over and beat G 7-1. Several of those just kind of went in, since she wasn't really defending her goal. :P

We also played a little mini bowling and Grasen rocked! She and Bayler were taking turns, but the strikes and spares and high numbers are all her.

This is the game that caused us to leave early. Bayler was getting his ball out of the gutter and another ball came rolling down the gutter and I yelled because I saw it coming, but before Jordan could get him it smashed his little finger between the two balls. It swelled up a little and started bleeding. We were pretty sure it was broken and had plans to tape his fingers together after baths, but the swelling went down and he just had a blood blister. I felt so bad for the little guy, getting hurt on his birthday. :(

Before the finger injury we played lots of games and had pizza at the restaurant.

We had such a fun time celebrating Bayler turning another year older, but it is going way too fast. Can time stand still for a little while?!
