Halloween 2012

Every Halloween we go to my in-laws for soup, sandwiches, desserts, and to see 300+ trick or treaters. It's always a fun time! Before we got costumes on we made the treats we were going to take to the party.

We made warm bean dip or "Texas Trash" as it's referred to on pinterest. I made it a little festive by putting it in a round baking dish and used olives to make a jack-o-lantern.

The kids had fun making oreo spiders for the party!

I had a Dorothy and a dinosaur this year.

My niece and nephew came to visit!

This is my nephew. They live a few hours away so we didn't get to see him in person, but his costume was most definitely the best one of the night!

And the moms!

It's a good night if the only bad thing happens is getting your tail closed in the door!

Halloween parties

The kids had their halloween parties at school today. I went right to pinterest for help! These little skeletons were a hit with their peers.

It is a brownie on the bottom, white chocolate covered pretzels for the bones and a marshmallow for the head. I'm so glad I don't have to use my own creativity for very many things anymore. It doesn't compare to the creativity on pinterest- that's for sure!

Fun Fest

Each year our church puts on the best fall festival with several bounce houses and slides, popcorn, sno cones, face painting, petting zoo- you name it, it was probably there!

Our kiddos were smiling ear to ear the whole time! I love getting to see the joy on their faces when we do things as a family. It's very important to me that I take part in these special times when they are so young.

We are so blessed to have a church family that reaches out and loves on so many, especially those that don't have a church home.

Halloween Costumes in years' past....

Kelly's Corner is linking up halloween costumes today! I hope to get some great ideas for next year.

Here are my kiddos the last few years...

2011- Aaaarrrggg! Tis my pirate and fairy!

2010- The master chef Grasen...and she cooked up a silly little cheeseburger!

2009- My 50's girl and adorable pumpkin!

2009- She has a little sass going on!! ;)

I wish I had Grasen's first two Halloween's on this laptop- she was a lioness her first Halloween and the most adorable ladybug her second Halloween. It's the most fun dressing them up and it's getting even better the older they get now that they have a little say in their costume and get to put some of their personality into it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Bayler's Pumpkin

Bayler is in preschool and they don't travel to the pumpkin patch for a field-trip at this age. Instead, his teachers brought the patch to them! They bought each child a pumpkin and set them in the field next to their school and they were able to go pick out their own pumpkin. How sweet is that?

I'm sad I wasn't able to go- it was conference day at my school and I was tied up, but his sweet teacher texted me some pictures and my mom is the director at his school so she was able to get some pictures for me. I'm truly blessed to have them and so is my Bayler.

Uncle Charlie's Birthday

We drove up to the cabin today for Charlie's birthday. What normally takes a little over an hour took us 2 1/2 hours to get there!

We had a restroom stop at a little recreation area, which just so happened to be my first experience with a pit toilet. My Lord have mercy- never again! I was very close to puking on my shoes and got a little nervous when I couldn't get the door unlocked quick enough to get out of there. Anyhow- the kids were getting a little car sick, mostly Bayler, so we made another stop to skip some rocks and let their tummies settle.

There were some great photo ops during the couple of stops we made- I took advantage of them!

It was so nice visiting with Jordan's family. I love that the men get in the kitchen and cook! And cook well!! Before we left that morning the kids had wrapped some paper plates they decorated for Uncle Charlie. They were so excited for him to unwrap them.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day together and got home just in time for the kids to go to Awana. We are very blessed.

The United Way Dance

This evening my husband and his band played for the United Way dance and silent auction. They play for this specific charity just about every year and usually the United Way sponsors the New Year's Eve dance that they play at as well. I have only been to the New Year's Eve dance once and it was a fun time.

I love listening to my husband's band and love even more if it is an event held during the day so that my children can tag along and watch their daddy drum. I didn't plan to go to this dance tonight, but a few hours before it started my mother-in-law offered to keep the kiddos, like she does every dance, so that I could go. This time I agreed! I have been so busy and football season is hard with Jordan being gone so much. I needed a few hours to just sit and chat with my best friend, Dawn.

We had fun in the photo booth acting a little silly. The theme for the event was Vegas if you can't tell. ;) I called it a night around 10:30 or so....boy I'm getting old! It was nice to just sit and relax and have some good adult conversation!

Pumpkin Pickin'

Grasen went with her classmates to the Pumpkin Patch this afternoon. It worked out well that me and my students were on the same schedule as Grasen's class, so we were able to ride the bus together and I could see her having a fun time.

Daddy surprised Grasen and took the afternoon off to meet her at the patch. This is big since he is the only administrator at his 7-12th grade school and it is Friday and one of the biggest game days thus far! I know she doesn't understand that, but she was happy to see him!

She had a lot of fun and I have a feeling we'll be making a jack-o-lantern this weekend!

Mini Cheer Camp

Grasen attended her first mini cheer camp this week as a kindergartener. She had the most fun each day at practice learning the new cheers and dances with her little friends.

They performed tonight before the high school football game. Even though she loved cheering and dancing the whole week she was a little nervous about performing in front of so many people. She has such a quiet spirit like her Momma and does not like the spotlight to be on her.

She did so well and I am glad she now has her first cheer camp behind her, so she will know more of what to expect next year and not be as nervous.

Daddy and I weren't so sure about her dancing and singing along with the lyrics "here's my number, so call me maybe"......as she was dancing my mind flashed forward about ten years. I'd kinda like to keep her 6 forever. ;)
