We have been so busy the last 5 weeks. The house is looking better and better each week, but we still have a lot of little projects left to finish. Our granite was installed and we are so happy with all the colors. We are still searching for turned legs to support the countertop in the island. The temporary legs are about to drive me bonkers. Since the granite was installed, I have been cooking on the electric cooktop which I love. It is all digital and so easy to wipe down after cooking. I have thoroughly enjoyed making meals in this kitchen.
The kids are still loving their bedrooms, playroom, and the extra space to play together. We had our first dinner with friends last weekend and it was nice to not feel like you were all over each other because of the lack of extra "move around space."
When we woke up this morning we had dirt in our front yard and now we have grass!! Yay! The sod truck was here at about 10:30 this morning and by mid-afternoon most of the front yard was finished thanks to J, a few good friends, and my Dad. There is still more laying of sod to be done tomorrow. J made it to the back yard this evening and there are a few more rows of pallets left, then we will have to seed the rest.
G started playing t-ball this year and she is having so much fun. We really enjoy watching her play. She has a very sweet and quiet personality so she will not go after the ball and compete with her teammates to get it. She is consistent with her batting and getting on base just about every time. She gets really excited when she gets on base. The first game was a little rough for her. The little boy who fielded her ball came running to her and pushed her with the ball while she was standing on first. She didn't get why he had to push her and it made her sad. She thought she was finished with t-ball and didn't want to go back. We had a long talk about the rules of the game and the second game was much better for her.
The school year is already coming to a close (wahoo!) so my husband and I are extremely busy. I am testing, testing, testing, preparing for field trips, finishing inventory, working on my students' memory books, and trying to keep my sanity while the excellent behavior my kids have had all year is quickly going out the window. How do they even know it's almost Summer break? They're kindergarteners! 20 more days.
